WASHINGTON — Members of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association Washington, DC, Chapter will participate in the annual Wreaths Across America program, an event that aims to place 500,000 wreaths on veterans’ graves this year. The SSUNAA will be part of a larger group of capital-area alumni associations, corporate groups, and individual volunteers that are laying wreaths on grave sites at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 17.
“The mission of Wreaths Across America is to remember the fallen member of our military and honor those who served,” said Absolon Kent, the chapter’s event organizer. “It’s always great when the SSUNAA can support such a worthy cause.”
Wreaths Across America’s mission — Remember, Honor, Teach — is carried out by annually coordinating wreath laying ceremonies at veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states, through ceremonies at sea, and at 24 national cemeteries on foreign soil.
